Plants for Insects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The decline of insects means that there is now an interest in planting species that benefit pollinators in our gardens. However, few studies have rigorously analysed which ornamental plants are most attractive to insects. Moreover, most research has been carried out in the UK, which has very different climatic and soil conditions to our own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the study Plants for Insects, we want to find out which ornamental plants in urban gardens are most attractive<\/strong> for these animals. To do this, we evaluated the presence of insects on different plants in four urban gardens in the city of Murcia between April and May during 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can download the poster with the results of 2024, presented in the International Electronic Entomology Conference<\/a>, where you'll find more details about the methodology. Additionally, the following graph shows the average number of insects observed per plant species in both survey years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these observations, we hope to provide useful information for designing gardens and urban spaces that favour insect conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
